Frequently Asked Questions

In this section, we cover some of the general questions that are asked by clients regarding our containers. Also, we cover the basics of what CAN and CANNOT be put in the containers.

If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact us.

What does it mean “measured in yards”?

All our containers are measured in yards instead of cubic feet.

Just to give you how that works – 3 Cubic Feet (3′ x 3′ x 3′) = One Cubic Yard.

What size dumpsters & container does AWG offer?

We offer 2 Different Dumpster/Container Sizes.

  • 20 Yard – 8′ x 22′ x 3 ½ ′
  • 30 Yard – 8′ x 22′ x 5′

How do I place an order for an AWG roll-off dumpster rental?

Simply fill out our online free quote form with the container size, type of debris, preferred delivery date and location and we will call or email you with an accurate price quote. You can also just give us a call and we can give you pricing over the phone.

How far in advance do I need to order a dumpster?

We can usually deliver a dumpster/container to any site in the Baltimore area next day. However, sometimes we are very busy so we suggest setting up a delivery date 4 to 5 days in advance to ensure you will receive the container(s) at the time you want them delivered.

How do I modify or cancel an order?

Calling the office as soon as you need a modification or cancellation is the best rule of thumb. Cancellations and modifications should be sent to related to Atlantic Waste Group at least 24 hours in advance.

However, if a cancellation occurs while the container is already is in route to the location, there will be a charged trip fee of $250.00.

What do I do when my dumpster/container is full?

You can simply call or email us, and we will schedule a time with you for the container to be picked up. If you need another container, just let us know and we will be sure to switch your full dumpster out with an empty one.

How high can I fill the dumpster/container?

Most of our cans have fill lines, for those without, the fill line is the top of the side walls and that height cannot be exceeded. If one of our trucks shows up for a scheduled pickup and the container is filled past the fill line or the top of the side walls, it will NOT be able to be removed and you will be charged a $250.00 trip fee.

Is it necessary for someone to be there at the time of delivery?

It is preferred, but not necessary to have someone onsite for delivery or removal of the container. The driver will use their best judgment and place the container in the safest accessible area when delivering the container. Always recommended that you take photo of the area you would like the container placed and provide that to Atlantic Waste Group prior to drop-off.

If an onsite contact is not available for delivery, you will be responsible for all charges involved with relocation of the dumpster should it be necessary.

For removal, customer agrees to provide unobstructed access to the equipment on the scheduled pick-up day; if equipment is inaccessible customer is subject to additional pick-up charges, as terms and conditions apply.

What CAN NOT go in the container?

Any hazardous waste and toxic chemicals are not accepted and cannot be put into any roll off container.

These items include, but are not limited to:

  • Medical Waste
  • Oils and Lubricants
  • Aerosols, Paint
  • Gasoline or Diesel Containers
  • Tires
  • Batteries
  • Anything else that should be taken to a transfer station to dispose of

AWG reserves the right to charge a cleaning fee for any hazardous material that a customer puts into our dumpsters plus two (2) times the dump fee we are charged for disposing of hazardous materials.

Will a roll-off container/dumpster damage my property?

Potentially the containers could cause damage; however, Atlantic Waste Group is not responsible for any damage to your property because of container placement or removal.

AWG highly recommends that the customer protect any surface where the roll-off is going to be placed with a 4′ x 8′ sheet of plywood. Customer affirms that any right-of-way provided by customer (disclosed in delivery questions) for the roll-off container is sufficient to bear the weight of all contractors’ equipment and vehicles required to perform the contracted service.

The customer assumes all liabilities for damages to private driving surfaces, pavement or road surfaces and entire container placement site. AWG shall not be responsible for any damages to any private driving surface, pavement or accompanying subsurface of any route associated to perform the service that was contracted.

What methods of payment do you accept?

What if the driver cannot access dumpster to pickup?

If the driver cannot access the dumpster for any reason (customer’s fault or not), customer will be billed a trip charge of $250.00 If missed pick up causes dumpster to be at the property for longer than contracted time, then customer may also be billed per day until the dumpster is picked up (typical additional day(s) AT $10.00 per day.

What if I damage my rented dumpster?

Any substantial or material damage done to a dumpster will be billed to the renter.

Chargeable damage examples:

  • Denting it
  • Damaging doors or hinges
  • Scratching paint on the outside
  • Overloading it
  • Loading it with items that tear it up or dent it

You will be billed for repair and for the loss of use while dumpsters are down for repairs, so PLEASE take special care and be careful with your dumpster.

What if my dumpster is too heavy to lift or unsafe?

Our trucks have a legal amount of weight that they can carry and that is why there is a 4 TON max on our containers. In the event you go over this weight, the driver may refuse the dumpster and you may have to unload some of your debris at your expense.

If an additional dumpster is needed, in order to remove some of the debris from the overloaded dumpster into, you can simply go online and rent an additional dumpster.

Please remember the rental continues until the dumpster is loaded to a safe amount.

If this issue causes your rental to go beyond the included 7 days, you may be billed for each additional day at $10.00 per day.

AWG takes the safety of its employees and of the other people on the roads very serious. It is always less expensive to get an additional dumpster than to overload one.

Is there a weight limit on my dumpster rental?

Each container has a specific MAX WEIGHT LIMIT of 4 tons (8,000 lbs.).

What happens if I stack trash over the top or the sides of the dumpster?

Dumpsters can NEVER be loaded over the side walls for any reason.

If dumpsters are loaded above the sidewalls, AWG may refuse to pick up the dumpster and will charge customer a trip charge ($250.00) plus the customer will have to unload the dumpster at his or her own expense and time to below the side wall top.

How high can I stack trash in the dumpster?

You can stack all the way to the top of the sidewalls. Dumpsters may never be loaded above the sidewalls.

How much room do I need for the dumpster?

Please note that regardless of the dumpster height, our delivery truck needs 9 feet of clearance to enter/exit a drop-off location and 14 feet of clearance to tilt (load and unload).

Can the dumpster rental be placed on the street?

Please check with your local municipality. Permits are often required for dumpsters to be placed on the street and sometimes this is expressly prohibited. The customer is always responsible for any needed permits.

Can I walk items into my dumpster?

All our dumpsters have barn doors on the rear that allow you to walk right into them and load large items.

How do I know if a product is hazardous?

Assume a product is hazardous if the label contains ANY of the following words:

  • Pesticide
  • Fertilizer
  • Warning
  • Poison
  • Acid
  • Danger
  • Caustic
  • Flammable
